Charlie's Story
One of the things Charlie loves the most is sensory equipment...

(Charlie's story narrated by his mum Fiona.)
This is Charlie. 💙
Charlie is 9 years old, and he experiences the world in his own unique and special way. ✨ Charlie has MECP2 duplication syndrome, is non-verbal, and shows many autistic traits.
Communication can be challenging, and moving around independently is difficult, so Charlie uses a wheelchair to help him explore the world safely and comfortably. ♿️
But while Charlie may not use words, he communicates in so many other powerful ways — through his expressions 😊 his smiles 😄 the way his eyes light up ✨ and the calm that settles over him when he feels safe and understood. 🤍
One of the things Charlie loves the most is sensory equipment, sensory experiences helping make sense of the world around him. 🌈 The right sensory input can calm his anxieties, regulate his emotions, and help him engage more fully with people and activities. 🫶
Whether it’s the gentle movement of a swing, the comforting pressure of specialised seating, or the soothing glow of sensory lights ✨ these tools are just enjoyable for Charlie, they are essential. 💙 They help him feel secure, focused, and happy. 😊
Charlie started at Park Lane School in September 2020. 📚 From the very beginning, it has been nothing short of amazing. 🌟 The staff are more than educators, they are compassionate, dedicated people who treat every child as an individual. 🤍
They have become like an extended family 👨👩👦 not only supporting Charlie in school but supporting us as parents too, to celebrate his progress 🎉 understands his challenges, and always see his potential. 🌟
At Park Lane, sensory support isn’t an added extra, it’s a lifeline for children like Charlie. 💛 Raising money for more sensory equipment would make a real and lasting difference, creating moments of calm in overwhelming days 🌤 and the joy in places it might otherwise feel frightening or confusing. 🌈
With the right environment and the right equipment, he and all Charlie’s friends around him can continue to shine. ✨ Thank you for listening 🙏 good luck #Shadows2Giants 💙 and thank you so much for all your doing. Please donate if you can. 🤍
