Leo's Story

Why this campaign means so much: sometimes the world feels very loud and bright...

Hi, I’m Leo. I am 9 years old and I go to Park Lane Special School. 🏫

My brain works in a busy, buzzy way because I have autism and ADHD. ✨ Sometimes the world feels very loud and bright, so I wear my ear defenders to help me feel calm. 🎧 I love sensory toys and things I can squeeze, spin or fidget with. πŸŒ€πŸ§Έ Moving my body helps me feel happy and safe. πŸ’› My favourite things at school are the soft play, the playgrounds and the gym equipment. I love climbing, jumping and being outside because it helps my body feel organised again. 🀸‍β™‚οΈπŸŒ³

Park Lane is special because everyone understands me. The grown-ups know that when I move, I am not being naughty, I am regulating. πŸ’¬ The equipment helps me learn, play and feel calm and then I can focus in class on learning. πŸ“š More sensory equipment would mean more chances for children like me to feel safe in our bodies, ready to learn, and proud of what we can do. 🌈 My friends and I are very excited about the #Shadows2Giants challenge and wish them lots of luck! 🏊‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️ πŸƒ‍β™‚οΈπŸ’™
