Alfie's Story

(Narrated by Alfie's mum.)

Hi, my name is Alfie and I'm 8 years old. 👋😊 I'm autistic 🧩 and I also struggle with my speech. Park Lane Special School 🏫 have helped me to use picture cards 🖼️ to help me speak when I struggle to do so verbally. I can also struggle with sensory issues, and loud noises 🔊 and tones can hurt my ears 👂 and make me very sad. 😢

 

I love to sit on spinning toys 🎠, zoom around on my scooter 🛴 and go on climbing adventures 🧗. Flashing lights ✨ can sometimes help me relax 😌 and I find them really fun. 🎉

 

My teachers 👩‍🏫 can tell how I feel by my stimming sounds 🎵, and if I feel unsettled, they help me to regulate my emotions 💚 when I struggle to do so myself.

 

My family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 are very grateful 🙏 that there are such kind people 💛 who help to make my school time a happy one 😃, and that with the right equipment I am able to have my needs met and to develop further. 🌱
